Das Zentrum für ambulante Rehabilitation (ZAR) in Berlin ist eine mit Mitteln des Bundesministeriums für Arbeit und Sozialordnung geförderte Einrichtung, die ab Herbst 1996 medizinische Rehabilitation bei neurologischen und orthopädischen Krankheitsbildern in ambulanter Form durchführt. Die von IGES durchgeführte wissenschaftliche Begleitforschung erstreckt sich auf Fragen der Zugänglichkeit und Inanspruchnahme der Einrichtung, auf Fragen des Ablaufs und der Wirksamkeit und der Effizienz der Behandlung, auf die Vernetzung der Einrichtung mit der regionalen Versorgungsstruktur sowie auf den Bedarf an ambulanter Rehabilitation.
Die methodische Vorgehensweise umfaßt die Beschreibung der Inanspruchnahme und des Leistungsgeschehens innerhalb der Einrichtung, eine klinisch-epidemiologische Längsschnittstudie zur Effektivität und zur Effizienz der ambulanten Rehabilitation im Vergleich zur Behandlung in stationären Einrichtungen, eine qualitative Untersuchung der Kooperationsbeziehungen des ZAR zu Akutkrankenhäusern, niedergelassenen Ärzten, Betrieben etc. sowie die Entwicklung eines bevölkerungsbezogenen Schätzmodelles zum Bedarf ambulanter Rehabilitation.

Scientific research support of the "Centre for Outpatient Rehabilitation" (ZAR) in Berlin
The Centre for Outpatient Rehabilitation (ZAR) in Berlin is an establishment supported by funds from the "German Ministry for Work and Social Affairs", which from autumn 1996 will undertake medical rehabilitation in neurological and orthopaedic types of diseases in an outpatient form. The scientific support research undertaken by IGES, ranges from questions on accesibility and availment of the institution, to questions on the course and efficacy and efficiency of the treatment, to the links of the
institution with regional care structures as well as the need for outpatient rehabilitation.
The methodological method of the procedure encompasses the description of the availment and the performance within the institution, a clinical epidemiological longitudinal study on the efficacy and efficiency of the outpatient rehabilitation compared to treatment in an inpatient setting, a qualitative investigation of the cooperation relationship of the ZAR to acute hospitals, doctors in private practice, businesses, etc. as well as developing a population based estimation model on the need for outpatient rehabilitation.
