Berufsbegleitende Rehabilitation (BbR)

In the course of the analysis of the development of new products in the field of rehabilitation of the German Pension Insurance (DRV), the DRV Bund has developed in an internal project group a form of medical rehabilitation close to the place of residence and accompanying the occupation (Berufsbegleitende Rehabilitation - BbR). This is aimed in particular at insured persons for whom proximity to their private and professional environment is necessary or sensible (e.g. care of relatives, childcare or the need for direct implementation of what has been learned in the workplace). A specific characteristic of BbR is that the insured persons continue to pursue their employment during the provision of services. Accordingly, the therapy takes place outside normal working hours. Since BbR is a completely new service provision in the field of medical rehabilitation of the DRV, the feasibility of this BbR is being tested in a pilot project (indication orthopedics). The variant to be evaluated is provided exclusively on an in-service basis and extends over 12 weeks. Goals of the project relate to the identification of challenges and development of appropriate solution strategies for future routine care as well as an initial process-based evaluation of the results. Specific objectives are: 1. Analysis of factors influencing the implementation of BbR 2. Development of implementation strategies on both the provider and service provider side 3. Evaluation of the BbR from the perspective of the insured, the rehabilitation facilities and the service provider The planned project is divided into two phases - the implementation phase and the evaluation phase. Concrete tasks of the evaluation phase are: - Analysis of the results as well as the satisfaction with the BbR from the patient's point of view - Analysis of the performance and the service provision - Analysis of the satisfaction and evaluation by the employees of the rehab facilities The BbR will be carried out in cooperating outpatient rehab facilities in the area of Berlin and Cottbus. The analysis is to be realized by a patient survey at three points in time (beginning, middle and end of the BbR). In addition, an analysis of the documented services (according to KTL) as well as the final documentation (incl. socio-medical performance assessment) is planned. For the survey of the employee perspective, workshops with employees from therapy as well as administration are planned for the rehabilitation facilities. The recruitment of potential participants for the BbR is planned via three access routes. First, there will be a screening of incoming applications. Furthermore, potential participants are to be recruited both through the DRV's company service at employers and through the pilot facilities themselves (e.g., via cooperating physicians in private practice). Four groups of 6 to 12 participants each are planned per facility; the planned start of the group was April 2017.
